Supercritical CO₂ Extraction For CBD
In order to extract oils and compounds from plants, a solvent must be used.* The “Supercritical CO₂ Extraction” method is well known for being the most effective way to extract beneficial essences from plants. This is the process that is used by the finest labs in the world.
CO₂ extraction, or Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE), is the method preferred by those who create high-quality essential oils, hops for beer, and decaffeinated coffee. When Carbon Dioxide is used as the extraction solvent, there is no residue left behind, because its high diffusion rates allows it to penetrate solids faster than a liquid solvent. The purity of CO₂ is its biggest advantage over all other solvents used for plant extraction.
*When using the patent-pending whole flower extraction process we discovered, no solvent is used. This is revolutionary! The statement holds true if you are looking to isolate CBD or other compounds from cannabis or hemp. Whole flower products bring a new term to the industry called The Entourage Effect which the isolation of CBD does not provide.
Don’t Buy CBD Extracted Using Butane
Many extraction processes use volatile chemicals and dangerous substances. One of the most common methods of extraction, which should be avoided, uses butane.
Butane extraction can destroy very important properties of CBD. In addition, the butane extraction process potentially can leave heavy metal residue in the product.
There are stories of people becoming sick from petrol chemical poisoning when using products which were manufactured in this way. The CBD Expert never sells products with CBD extracted using butane.

The California lab that extracts the CBD used in our products developed and utilizes a supercritical CO₂ extraction process that is on the cutting edge in terms of plant extraction methods.
The reason CO₂ is preferred is that it has a very low boiling point; it is a gas a room temperature. So CO₂ naturally separates from the extracted CBD oil the same way a soda goes “flat” as the carbon dioxide escapes.
Since CO₂ is “cold,” extractions can be done at the same temperature the hemp has been transported in, which minimizes any thermal degradation of the precious CBD oil.
CO₂ is environmentally friendly! CO₂ used for extractions does not contribute to the overall atmospheric CO₂ levels.
